Rose Balyeat, MA
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a counselor. This desire to help others led me to my undergraduate studies at Indiana University where I received a bachelor’s degree in public health, majoring in Human Development and Family Studies and double minoring in Counseling and Psychology. After my undergraduate studies, I spent almost two years working with adults and youth in an inpatient behavioral health hospital in my hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. While there I worked with doctors and nurses to aid in the treatment of patients struggling with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and more. I absolutely loved my work at the hospital, but I felt drawn to do more. It was then that I decided to enroll in graduate school to pursue counseling as a career.
This past May, I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and became a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. I was also fortunate to be able to continue working for AIM Counseling Group by stepping into the role of Therapist and Assistant Clinical Director. At AIM, I have been able to hone my skills under the direct supervision of Amie Thomas, LMHC, CTS. Since working at the AIM Counseling group, I have been able to work with an amazing group of clients, ranging from ages 8 to 75 with varying issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustment, and general life struggles. Being able to walk alongside them on their journey and help provide them with the tools they need has been an honor. I have also been privileged to participate in intensive trainings related to trauma and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These trainings have helped me gain a greater understanding of how to best help clients by understanding how trauma affects the body as well as how our negative thoughts affect our behavior.
I truly believe that all people are doing the best that they can with the circumstances they have been given. Unconditional positive regard and a safe environment is the foundation without which no progress can be made. My goal is to provide you with a warm and welcoming environment that allows them to feel safe. From there, we can work to identify your goals and work to make them your reality.
“Rose has been a valuable addition to the AIM Counseling Group. As a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, Rose has risen to the occasion and has honed her clinical skills to a level that is beyond her years. Her pleasant demeanor and quick wit allow for her to connect easily with children, adults, and families. Rose is focusing her training towards the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model and she works effectively with mood related and adjustment disorders. I am absolutely honored to have the opportunity to work with Rose Balyeat, MA.” — Amie Thomas, LMHC, CTS
